Volume LTL vs. Partial Truckload

Volume LTL: Moves through a standard LTL carrier's hub-and-spoke network, but rates are spot-quoted based on trailer capacity rather than NMFC class. Highly susceptible to damage from cross-docking.

Partial Truckload: Freight stays on one truck from origin to destination (no cross-docking). It is paired with another shipper's freight to fill the trailer. Lower damage risk, but transit times depend on the carrier's ability to find matching freight.
